Outstanding Quality and Support – A Must-Buy!

I've purchased several M4L devices in the past, but Bounce Selection truly showcases ElisabethHomeland's exceptional technical expertise. Given its advanced features, the setup was somewhat complex, but the support was incredibly fast, precise, and kind—easily among the best I've experienced. The latest device, Track Presets, is also a must-buy, and I plan to collect the previously released devices as well. Thank you, Nándi!

Troubleshooting

Longtime Elisabeth Homeland consumer here. I love the Bounce Selection M4L device, but I ran into some issues and have reached out via email for support/confirmation of my findings.

I'm not sure if ratings can be adjusted in the future, so 5⭐s are given, since the developers of these tools are generally great at addressing feedback.

Ok, here's the deal. For me, I'm having to use groups for the tracks I want to "bounce" or consolidate. I expect this is something everyone is facing, but can't say for sure. It took a while to sort out what to do, but here are the steps.

1. Group tracks needing consolidated into one new group.
2. Highlight the range of the group in arrangement (do not highlight individual tracks inside the group)
3. Use "Menu" as the Processing Method on Bounce Selection. (everything besides AHK processing works as well)
4. Use mapped key to run sequence of "bouncing"

Grateful for this!

Amazing and time saving tool. Have been using this everyday since I first purchased. How could I manage without it? The tool works as expected, saving time in bouncing in place instead of having to resample my processed samples and loops to print them. The added feature of the effect chain is genius. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Elisabeth Homeland’s products from now on.

BiP was good this is better ;)

I have no idea why ableton never incorporated this feature. Coming from logic it was definitely the feature I did miss most when switching to Ableton. Thank you Nándi for addressing important Feature and making it perfect! Also the fact that the reverb tail gets recorded beyond the selected section is pure genius. As is the ability to have it bounce in realtime for the hardware addicts.

Super helpfull!

Works like a charm😎

Using the device is pretty simple:
After you’re done with the setup, just map the “Bounce” button to a Keyboard or MIDI shortcut. Then create a time selection in your Live set for a track you wish to bounce down, and press your shortcut to create a new track with the bounced down audio clip:

The same thing works with folder/group tracks, Just make sure that the group track is collapsed otherwise the time selection will select the first track of the group.

Behavior Options:

If you click on the Gear icon you can change a few things about the device’s behavior:
  • You can decide how it should route the audio from the source track for the new clip:
Pre FX, Post FX, or Post fader.
  • If you Enable the “Real Time” option the device will use real time rendering to create the new clip, instead of the default faster offline rendering.
Use this option if you used external effects or instruments on the source track you want to bounce down.
  • If you drop a .adg file (device chain preset) from Live’s Browser into the “New Track FX:” drag and drop box:
Once Bounce selection is done with creating the new clip it'll load the selected effects/device chain into the newly created track.

Place the .amxd files:

- Bounce Selection – by ElisabethHomeland.amxd

- BouncHelper.amxd

- (And AHK folder if you’re on windows.)

into your Ableton Live User Library:

Default User Library locations:
o Windows: \USERS\[USERNAME]\DOCUMENTS\ABLETON\USER LIBRARY
o Mac: MACINTOSH HD/USERS/[USERNAME]/MUSIC/ABLETON/USER LIBRARY

Allow Live time to analyze your library after adding devices. You can still drag and

drop devices from the library in the meantime.

Permissions on Mac:

If you’re on mac: When you first try to use the device you should get a prompt like this :

If you don’t get this prompt make sure that you enable the Ableton Live, Script Editor, and Terminal apps in System Preferences under: Security&Privacy / Accessibility:

On Windows you’re good to go without enabling any permissions.

Drop the device into your Master/Main track.
(Or onto any track you use to store your M4L devices.)

You’ll see a little box in the device that says „Drop BounceHelper here”
Find the BounceHelper.amxd file in your user library (it came with the download)
then simply drag and drop it into this box.

Once you’ve done that the device will show you that it’s ready to use:

Important: Now you can save the device either as a preset into Live’s browser or you can simply re-save your Live Set template with the device in it, That way you can skip this setup process the next time you want to use the device.
Important: Keep the BounceHelper.amxd file in the same folder where you originally added it to the device. If you move it, the device won’t be able to find it, and you’ll need to set it up again.

Optional setting For Windows users:

For Windows users:

If you’re on Windows and you click on the Gear icon, you’ll see another button on the device with 4 Options:
Menu, Shortcut, Language, AHK
With this button you can select the method the device should use to create a new rendered clip.
In most cases all of them should work just fine, and there’s no need to touch it.
But if the default Menu option doesn’t work for you, you can try the other 3 options.

Here's what they do:

Menu:
Uses automation scripts to select and execute menu points in order to create the new clip.

Shortcut:
Uses keyboard shortcuts to create the new clip.

Language:
This is a combination of the first two methods, plus it’s Language dependent.
If your Ableton Live interface is set to a different language than US-English, and you select this method
you’ll see a new List popping up where you can select the Language to match the one you’re using Live in.

AHK:
The AHK method will use AutoHotkey instead of PowerShell to do its thing.

Once you enabled the AHK mode drag and drop the BounceHelperAHK.ahk, and the BounceHelperRT-AHK files into the second boxes like you did with the BounceHelper.amxd file.
(Please note that there's seprate versions of these AHK scripts for Live 10, 11, and 12, so make sure to use the ones that matches your Live version.)

Important: If you’re using the AHK method you’re gonna still need the BounceHelper.amxd file!

Important: In order to make the AHK method work you need to install AutoHotkey 1.1 (not the 2.0 version)
If you’re not familiar with it you can download it from here:

Version 1.4 - 2024.03.03.

  • Bounce Selection now works both in Live 10, 11, and 12.
  • You can now drop a .adg file into the device, and once it finished bouncing down the new clip it'll load the selected device chain into the new track.
  • The new track created by the device will be named/colored as the source track with an additional [Bounce] in its name.
  • If both the Clip view and Device view were closed before engaging the device (and you don't load a .adg file into the new track with the device) one Bounce Selection finished it'll close the Clip/Device view.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the device to route audio from a wrong track if there were other tracks in the live set with the same name as the source track.
  • fixed an issue that prevented the device to delete the new clips tail in some cases.
  • In Real time mode Bounce Selection now deletes the helper device from the new track even if you interrupt/stop the recording manually.
  • Small UI changes
  • Updated documentation.

Version 1.3 - 2024.02.25.

  • Added Routing options for the device:
You can now select how the device should route the audio from the source track into the new clip: Pre FX, Post FX, Post Mixer.

  • Added Real Time Render mode option for the device:
If your source track includes external effects or instruments, you can enable this option to render the new clip in real time instead of the default offline rendering. (If you use the AHK mode on Windows, there's a new AHK file for the RealTime rendering.)
  • Rearranged UI
  • Updated documentation.
  • Some small UI related fixes for the drop-boxes.

Version 1.2 - 2024.02.20.

  • Added another safeguard to prevent engaging the Bounce button if the track is selected where you have the Bounce Selection device.

  • For better compatibility: On Windows you can now choose between 4 methods the device can use to create the new Bounced audio clip:
    Menu, Shortcut, Language, AHK.
For most people all of them should work just fine, but if you experience any issues you can try them to see which one works for you the best.
  • Updated the Documentation.

Version 1.1 - 2024.02.18.

  • Added a safeguard to prevent engaging the Bounce button if the Master track is selected.

  • Fixed an issue on Mac that prevented the device to work properly if Live's language was other than English.
