Live’s shows this message "The device is not available for this version of live" What should I do?
This is a MaxForLive device, the message indicates that you’re using Live lite, or standard without MaxForLive.
As I said in the product description You're gonna need either Live standard with MaxForLive, or Live Suite.
The wrapper shows up but doesn’t change the sound at all.
It could happen if Max and Ableton Live are not synced correctly. and Max can’t find the plugin you’re trying to use.
First of all make sure that the plugins are actually installed on your computer!
If that checks out there's a few things you can try:
1:
- Just simply remove the plugin files from their current location,
- then open Live, and run a VST scan, ( or/and AU if you're on mac)
- make sure that the plugins disappeared from Live's browser.
- Close Live, and put back the plugins to their place.
That should force Live, and Max to reindex the plugins location.
2:
Try to reinstall the plugins - preferably to the default location where the installer suggests it.
3:
If the first two tips didn't worked for you, you can try to solve the problem in Max.
Rescan the Plugins inside Max:
Drop a M4L device into your LiveSet and open the Max editor.
Then once Max opens, select the Preferences tab from the toolbar, go to the Plugins section, and scan for plugins.
I recommend using the "Minimal/Fast" option since the longer one takes about an hour for some reason...
Add the vst3/AU files manually into Max's search path:
Select the "Show File Browser" option from the Files menu in Max, click on the "Add files to search path" button.
Then find your VST3 files on your system, then drag and drop the ones Max was unable to find, into Max's File browser.
Here's a video that shows how to do it:
How can I select presets from the plugin?
You need to do that from the original floating GUI. Simply click on the top right tool button to access it.
